I want to live with shamans

Umberto Riario Sforza

Name: Umberto Riario Sforza (20, international communication & media)

Describe your style? ‘I don't have one style, I vary all the time. Sometimes I dress up and wear a suit, sometimes I'm this hippy with a multicoloured shirt. Sometimes I wear very short shorts, which looks weird with my length – I'm 1 meter 92. I don't care about other people's reactions. I'm skinny, everything fits me, unless it's really super sized. I used to have more extreme hair styles as well. I've had a mohawk, I've had a Justin Bieber-like emo haircut. Before I started studying in Utrecht, I lived in the States, where I used to be fucking wild, like fuck the society!
What do you find super ugly? ‘That upperclass fashion thing you do with your jeans… it's hard to describe. In Italy, where I come from, they call it 'risvoltino'. And girls shouldn't wear their skirts too short. I also don't think it's cool to dress up too much for school. Like, I saw this girl today who wore very high heels. Which is fine if you're going to a cocktail party, but for school…?

Tattoo? ‘With Go against your Destiny I mean that society expects you to get a certain job, get married, get children et cetera, but there is no such thing as your destiny. You yourself decide what you're going to do with your life.’

Music? ‘Hiphop, techno-with-ch and teckno-with-ck, rock, metal. I like to listen to random music via the 4shared Music app. Machine Gun Kelly, Knife Party and Jeff Mills are some of my favourites. I've always hated pop music. But I can appreciate it when it's done more interestingly, like Madonna's Die Another Day.’
Last concert/party? ‘Run the Trap, a trap music party in Rotterdam.
Movie? ‘I like action movies. Gladiator is one of my favourites. It's a deep movie. Not in a philosophical way, but for what it is, an action movie. And L'Attimo Fuggiente (Dead Poets Society).
Sports? ‘I used to play basketball in Italy and the States. I miss the emotions.
Website? ‘Couchtuner to watch series on.’

App? ‘SoundCloud, and the music apps 4shared Mshamanusic and mp3music.’

Where do you live? ‘With seven other students in Zeist. I pay double, because the room is furnished.’
Are you religious? ‘No. Religion is an illusion. I am spiritual, though. I love nature. Nature is all around us, it gives us life.

Which grade would you give your life? ‘A 7. After I've graduated and I can live my life the way I want to, it will be a 10. Being in uni is complicated.

Club or café? ‘Club.’
Meat or veggy? ‘Veggy.’
Blind or deaf? ‘Deaf.’
Onenightstand or relationship? ‘Relationship.’
Man or woman? ‘Woman.’
Morning person or night owl? ‘Night owl.’
Dog or cat? ‘Dog.’
Facebook, Instagram or Tinder? ‘Facebook.’
London, Berlin or Paris? ‘Berlin.’
Uggs or crocs? ‘Do I really have to choose? There aren't Uggs for men. Are there? Well, I go for Uggs. I've heard they're comfortable.’

What would you like to become? ‘I don't want to reach a certain goal, like becoming a rich man. I just want to make my own stuff, make music. I write raps, very alternative raps. Probably they're more poems than raps. One day, when I've saved enough money to survive for a while, I want to move to Jamaica, India or South America, and live with the natives, with shamans, and not have any problems.’
